IYENGAR YOGA WITH ANDREA ERB
WELCOMES YOU!
Yoga is for EVERYONE - all can benefit from it!
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME
I began taking classes in the Iyengar method of yoga in January of 2000. From the very first class I attended, the approach spoke to me immediately. I now hold a world-wide recognized Level 2 Certification from the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada.
I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in workshops with many inspiring senior Iyengar Yoga teachers throughout the years, and have traveled to Pune, India in 2010 and 2017 to take classes at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI).
In addition to teaching classes, I am a full time Legal Assistant for a large downtown law firm. I have been teaching continuously since 2006, and I was a co-owner of Yoga North - Iyengar Yoga Winnipeg for 8 years until it closed in December, 2021.
My main goal is to lead others down the long path of discovery that yoga provides. Whether you want to move your body, reach spiritual growth, or be more present, I know you’ll benefit from my classes!

WHAT IS IYENGAR YOGA?
B.K.S. Iyengar (December 14, 1918 - August 20, 2014)
B.K.S. Iyengar (Guruji) was a legend from Pune, India, who taught yoga in a unique way to all his students for many decades. He found the meaning of the ancient yoga sutras by his practical search and regular practice of yoga. He invented many props, including belts, blankets, special benches, ordinary chairs and blocks to enable everyone to experience classic yoga poses, or asanas. His style of teaching yoga is followed around the world by teachers trained by him, and this has led to his method being called “Iyengar Yoga”.
Poses are taught in a systematic, progressive way for safety and continuity. You will achieve gradual, steady progress, and develop body awareness, physical and mental strength, stability, mobility and flexibility.
Props are used to support a student's practice, and to assist in achieving correct body alignment and help reduce the risk of injury. Types of props we use: wood and foam blocks, blankets, chairs, belts and bolsters.
Iyengar yoga teachers are highly trained, and we continue our professional development throughout our entire teaching career. We are trained to provide clear demonstrations of each posture in the class. Through our extensive training we are able to help students with injuries to practice safely.
